Mexicans outlawed slavery, but since the Americans had to follow Spanish law while they settled there, they were angry that they couldnt own slaves. -

Requested Reforms
Moses Austin went to Mexico City to show the Mexican officials a list of requested reforms. General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna agreed to the list. -
Cannon
Mexican soldiers went to Gonzale to take a Texan cannon to protect themselves from the Native Americans. The Texans hung a flag that said "Come and take it". The Mexican soldiers failed to get the cannon. -
Santa Anna's Troops
Texans met at a settlement to decide what to do about Santa Anns's Troops. They decided that they were going to make Texas a free and independent republic, -
The Alamo
Santa Anna's troops surrounded San Antonio. The next day, the Mexicans surrounded the Alamo. Juan Seguin left to carry a message from Travis to the world, but when he returned, the Alamo was in flames. -
The Battle of the Alamo
Santa Anna had more than 1,800 men attack the fortress.The Mexicans met them with guns and cannons and kept firing until there was no more ammunition. By the end of the day, all except for seven Maxicans were dead. -
"Remember the Alamo"
Housten lead a suprise attack on Santa Anna. They all ran foreward yelling "Remember the Alamo!" and 'Remember Goliad!". In 18 minutes, the Texans killed more than half of the Mexican army, Santa Anna signed a treaty that finally declared Texas an Independent nation, -
