Austin Grant
Steven F. Austin was allowed by the Mexican govenment to start a colonization in the Brazos River area. -
Mexican Inependence
in 1824 the Mexican government made a constitution stating that the Mexican territy was a repulic. Texas was not okay with this. -
Austin Imprisoned
Austin was imprisoned by the Mexican army. -
Battle at Gonzales
The Texans made the Mexican horses run away. This started the revolution. -
Battle at Alamo
Colonel William B. Travis lead the Texans in a two week battle against Santa Anna and the Mexican army. -
Runaway Scrape begins
After the Texans realize the Battle at the Alamo is not going to end well the citizens of the Texas civilizations all move as runaways trying to escape the terror of the Mexicans. -
Massacre at Goliad
Four hundred men along with James Fannin were brutally executed by the Mexicans under Santa Anna's order. -
Battle of San Jacinto
Sam Houston lead the surprise attack against the Mexicans and Santa Anna. Here the Texans won their independence. -
Texas joins the United States
James Polk (the president at that time) signed legislation signifing that Texas was the 28th state in the United States. -

Texas seceded from the Union and joined the confederacy. There were a few people including governer Sam Houston who did not think secession was a good idea. -
Battle of Galveston- the Bayou City
Jean Laffiete took control of galveston Island and decided to use the Island as a place where they could smuggle the supplies they needed.
