Texas becomes Mexican Territory
After the Mexican War of Independence ended in 1821 they were free from Spanish rule and Texas officially became a part of the Mexican territory. -
Law of April 6, 1830
Between 1822-1828 there was a large influx of Anglo-Americans settling in Texas. Mexico wanted to fortify their hold on the territory out of fear of the amount of Americans coming. The biggest impact from this law was the banning of immigrants coming from the United States into Texas. -
The beginning of the Texas Revolution
Because of growing tensions between Texas settlers and the Mexican nation the Texas Revolution began with the battle of Gonzales. This is where the famous "Come and Take it" cry comes from. -

Annexation of Texas
Under President John Tyler a joint resolution of the Treaty of Annexation was passed, with support from future President James Polk, and Texas became the 28th state in the United States -
Mexican-American War
There were many border and land disputes between Texas, which was now a part of the United States, and Mexico. Because of this the United States declared war with Mexico. -
The Confederacy
Because of tensions over slavery between the northern and southern states in the U.S. Texas succeeded from the U.S. and joined the confederate states. Fun fact: Texas was the 7th state to join the confederate states. -
Juneteenth
Two years after the emancipation proclamation delivered by Abraham Lincoln, enslaved African American in Texas were freed after receiving the news from union troops. -
Readmission of Texas
After the Civil War ended, Texas was readmitted to the United States during the reconstruction era where they had to ratify the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments. -

Oil was accidentally discovered in Corsicana Texas consequentially leading to the development of the modern day oil industry.
