    This was a mark in American War History. Theodore R. led the rough riders through the battle and achieved the goal of taking Kettle Hill, regardless of the heavy enemy fire.

    Theodore Roosevelt was not elected into the role president. He had to step up and assume the position after the assassination of president McKinley. This was a very big step considering he had only been the vice president.

    The coal strike was caused by a group of workers who weren’t happen with their working conditions. They threatened to cut off the fuel supply to many major cities and this caused for them to get their way. They received shorter work days, more pay, and union recognition.

    This act was passed to give land back for agricultural reasons. It helped the more arid sections of land find new meaning and purpose. It was viewed as America “reclaiming” their land, hence the name.

    The Elkins Act was an act that prohibited railroad companies from giving excessive charges and fees to transfer large quantities of goods. It gave more power to smaller businesses.

    During TR’s presidency, he established the Northern Securities Case. This was what earned him the nickname the “Trust-Buster”. He was able to break apart the many monopolies that had formed and helped but an end to their overwhelming power.

    The Meat Inspection Act of 1906 was one that banned the selling of adulterated or misbranded livestock. It also encouraged for products to be clean and disease-free.

    During June of 1910, Theodore left America to go on an expedition. This was a very successful trip and led to the discovery of a ton of new species. This trip was also funded by no other than Andrew Carnegie.

    TR ran for president under a new party. When reporters questioned him about this he said it was because he felt “strong as a bull-moose.” The party’s goals are to increase federal regulation and protect the well being of ordinary people.
