    Coal Strike of 1902
    In 1902, there was a large coal strike where the workers wanted a better wage and better hours. This caused the production of coal to stop and the coal supply in the U.S. was going down. Roosevelt settled the problem by calling the leaders of both sides of the situation together and got them to settle the issue.
  • Elkins Act of 1903

    Elkins Act of 1903
    The Elkins Act was passed in 1903. This law was passed to stop railroad companies from giving rebates to businesses that ship a lot of goods. This helped give more power to big businesses to lower shipping prices.
  • Meat Inspection Act

    Meat Inspection Act
    The meat inspection act was passed by Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. This was to make the processing of meat much more sanitary. This was done by making the U.S. Department of Agriculture inspect all the meat before and after being slaughtered and processed.
