First home computer
It was a slimmer computer and monitor than older versions, like my grandparents had. It made searching for information and news more accessible for my parents. As kids we could use the computer to plays a bunch of new games and try learning programs to help with school. -
First Gaming Console - Nintendo Wii
It was a Christmas present from my grandfather when the family got the original Wii Console by Nintendo in 2009. It is a compact gaming console that uses wireless remotes with buttons to track your movement while playing games. It enhanced our family game nights and made them more fun/interactive. -
iPod touch 5th Gen
My sister and I received the iPod Touch 5th Generation device for Christmas. iPod Touches were similar to modern-day Smartphones; they were portable devices that, with Wifi, would allow you to search for anything on the web, make social media posts, and send text messages or emails. We could stay connected with friends and family from a great distance. -
First Cell Phone
I got an LG Enact; which was a touchscreen phone with a slide-out keyboard for quick messaging. Again similar to the iPod and modern-day smartphones; it allowed for seamless access to the internet and communication. Most notable was that Wifi was not required to send messages with this device. I was finally able to make phone calls with a phone compared to the iPod did not allow for anything other than FaceTime with other Apple products. -
First Personal Laptop
I bought my first Laptop. We used laptops from school in high school, but this was the first laptop I bought myself and was able to take home. Most importantly for me was that I didn’t have to share the use of the computer either. My laptop was used primarily for school because it made it far easier to type out papers correctly and perform extension research. While still allowing the convenience of a small device for traveling around with.
