  • Intel introduces the first DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) chip

    Also known as the Intel 1103, it was the first commercially available DRAM IC. It was invented by Joel Karp and William Regitz, among others, produced by Intel Corporation.   • IBM introduces the first 8-inch floppy disk

    IBM introduces the first flexible magnetic diskette. It becomes known as a "floppy disk". It was introduced commercially in 1971. It was invented by Alan Shugart, among other colleagues.   • "Pong" is released by Atari, Inc.

    Pong became one of the earliest and most popular arcades games, published under Atari, Inc. It was released on November 29, 1972.
