August 2012 - First Year of Teaching
My timeline will focus on the different technology use that I have used in my classes over my 8 years of teaching. Starting with year 1, I will highlight the types of technology used in my health classes. -
Digital Technology Used in 2012
When I first started teaching, the digital technology that I used in Health were a SmartBoard (used to present PowerPoint notes, play videos, and take notes on), a desktop computer where I was able to access teaching materials, and an online grade book that allowed access to grades at all times. -
Vintage Tools of Technology in 2012
All of the homework I gave in class were paper copies for each student. Our exams were taken on scantrons and needed to be ran through the machine to be graded. I still kept a paper grade book, and then transferred those into Skyward. -
Digital Tools in 2014
In 2014, our district provided our students with laptops to aid in their learning throughout high school. This really opened the doors a world of digital tools that we had only dreamed about before. These laptops gave children instant access to information. -
Digital Tools 2015
With the issue of laptops, this changed the way in which we learned. Google Classroom became, and still is, a huge resource for my classes. 95% of what we do in class can be found here. It eliminated paper copies for homework and it also gave them access to it from home. It has allowed me to share study resources, take quizzes, create forms, and share other class resources. -
Digital Tools 2015
I started using Mastery Manager to administer my exams. It eliminated paper copies, scantrons, and graded the exams once the students hit submit. I still use this program to take my exams. -
Digital Tools 2015
As a way to review for exams, take pre-assessment quizzes for units, and a way of polling students, I started using Kahoot. It has been an fun way to get students interactive in their learning. -
Digital Tools 2019
I started using Flipgrid as a way for students to communicate with each other for discussions and group projects. This allows for direct conversation without being present with each other. -
Zoom and Google Meets
I used these programs during our E-learning to connect with kids and answers questions. -
Adobe Spark
Students used Adobe Spark to create videos about a celebrity who suffered from a mental illness. -
PowerPoint
I created voice overs for my PowerPoints to provide instruction to my kids during E-learning. -
Online Textbook
We got new books this year and it has online access to the textbook. -
Google Docs
Kids used Google docs to read, annotate, and comment on articles during E-learning.
