Technology Timeline

  • Chromebooks

Students use Chromebooks in my classroom every day. I am a part of a 1:1 technology pilot. The students do not have access to the Chromebooks outside of class.
  • Phase I- Learning

Early in the unit the students use technology to accumulate knowledge. My students have access to a class website that houses all of the slide decks, podcast videos, and additional resources that the students utilize to learn. http://www.pchseconomics.com/ The students also utilize the technology to take notes and organize the information. In class, this takes place the first few days of every unit. I teach using the flipped model; so, students will also continue their learning at home.
  • Classroom Simulations

In between Phase I & II, students will participate in whole class simulation activities two times every week. These simulations will always incorporate technology in some way, but it will vary depending on the activity. Most simulations utilize technology through Canvas, our school's LMS. These activities usually hold a Google Doc that goes along with the simulation for students to follow along. Other simulations are only online like, https://fiscalship.org/
  • Phase II- Creation

In the second phase of a unit, the students will use technology to create a project of some kind. The students have a lot of choice when choosing projects. In some units students are asked to complete a tic-tac-toe board or to accumulate 9 points. Students create podcast videos, slide decks, music videos, comic books, websites, quizzes, short stories, newspapers, video games, and much more.
  • Classroom Simulations

Students will continue to work on whole class simulations between Phase II & Phase III
  • Phase III- Assessments

In the final stage of the unit, students are assessed on their knowledge. Students use Canvas to take quizzes and exams online. I allow students to take a unit quiz as many times as they want to and then the students will take the exam
