VCR/VHS
VHS tapes were a big part of my childhood. I remember watching them at my house and renting VHS movies from Blockbuster. I think that my family just got rid of our old VHS movies within the last five years or so. -
Desktop Computer
I used to play games on the computer (The Oregon Trail, Jeopardy, etc). My dad works in information technology so we always seemed to have at least one computer in our house if not more. To this day we still have many computers in our house. -
Colorful iMac Computers
I remember when we got the colorful iMac computers in our school. We did not have them in every classroom and if I remember correctly we only had them in our computer labs. I remember loving the fun colors though! -
CD Walkman
I remember being so excited when I got a CD walkman. I could listen to my CDs without having to be near an outlet. -
AOL Instant Messenger/Dial Up Internet
Having instant messenger was a BIG DEAL. I could message my friends on the internet and I could set an away message when I was "away" from my computer. I also remember how much of a pain it was to use dial up internet. I had to make sure no one else was using the phone before I logged on and I couldn't stay on for too long because someone always seemed to need the phone. -
I-Pod
The iPod mini came out in 2004 and I was remember wanting one so badly. I was so excited when I got my first iPod. I had an MP3 player before, but the iPod was the item to have. -
First Cell Phone
I got my first cell phone the year I was going into high school. I was so excited to have a cell phone even though I had a limited number of talking minutes and texts. I even had the game snake on my phone and I thought it was the coolest thing. -
Myspace
I thought having a Myspace was the coolest thing. You could have your top friends, you could put music on your page, and you could even customize what your page looked like (to an extent). It was awesome. -
My First Laptop
I got a laptop the year that I graduated high school and went to college. I was so excited to have my own laptop that I could use at school. I felt so grown up having a laptop. -
Facebook
I first signed up for Facebook in 2008. I remember when my friend first told me about it she said that only college students could have it. I was so excited to have a new "college" social media.
