  • Hubble Space telescope

    At roughly 43ft long and 14ft in diameter, the Hubble Space telescope is the largest and most advanced to be deployed into space for observation and solar discovery. The equipment onboard also allowed humans to see and study light from ultraviolet to near infrared and study solar bodies and formations. The data gathered and transmitted back to earth would not have been possible without modern computer advances.

    Linus Torvalds introduces Linux as an open source operating system for computers.
  • Nokia 1011

    Regarded as the first GSM network cellular phone to be mass produced. This phone was a huge success and helped launch Nokia as a cellular phone manufacturer. Cell phones may have began simple, but are now portable computers in our pockets.

    Amazon opens its online book shop by the founder Jeff Bezos. What started as a simple online store certainly has grown into something much more as we know it today selling just about anything a person could need or want, as well as being one of the worlds largest web hosting services.
  • Tamagotchi

    A new hit toy is released putting technology in the palm of our hands. While far from being a household personal computer, this was an amazing accomplishment in small form portable technology.
