Build on a kitchen table,n George Stibitz created a relay-based calculator, named the model K. This was able to perform claculations on complex numbers. In 1940, he appeared at the AMS(American Mathematical Society) conference at a local college, and performed calculations remotely on the CNC in New York City. This was the first major demonstration of remote access computing.. -
Project Whirlwind

Selective Sequence Electronic Calculator
The SSEC, was the first operating computer in the US, to use both, electronic computation and stored instructions, and was also the first, to run stored programs. With measures between 25 ft by 40 ft, the SSEC made more than 40 multiplication per minute, a reality. NASA used moon-position tables, based on the ones, made and generated, by the SSEC, for the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. -
Development of the "SAGE"
SAGE stands for Semi- Automatic Ground Environment. Developed by NORAD, it's main purpose was to intercept, and track enemy aircrafts. It's considered historical because it was the 1st large scale computer network communication network, during it's time, which led to further innovations in real time computing, including interactive and online systems. -
