Shockingly realistic Obama Deepfake Created
A team of researchers created a video of Barack Obama talking about current problems existing within the United States. Many did not realize that it was not Obama until later, which caused many to question what the future of not only deepfakes, but technology in general could lead to. -
Synthetic Reality
The idea of VR is not recent. Ever since the concept was created, through trial and error the first major VR companies were created. A well known one is Oculus, a company that creates virtual reality games. Although VR holds great potential in the entertainment industry, it has other uses. One of those uses was helping psychological institutions with patients and overcoming things such as ptsd or phobias. As VR and AR continue to grow, an easily accessible virtual world awaits all. -
Researchers create Deepfake Seeking technology
Scientists at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (DEECS) decided to hopefully find a way to create a program that could read and detect when a video is a deepfake or when it's real. After developing the program, it was tested on many deepfake videos and it was deemed a successful project, as almost each time it had picked out the correct video. -
Similar Obama deepfake of Tom Cruise is created
The deepfake was made using very simple and easy to use technological software that just about anyone could get their hands on. Surprisingly, the deepfake was only noticed to be one when a website called CounterSocial was able to detect the video as fake. Unfortunately deepfakes will continue to improve until eventually even deepfake detecting programs will have trouble telling if they are real or fake. -

Due to COVID-19, the use and integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies has been hastened. Due to this, many markets are finding ways to implement WiFi accessible technologies into what are called ‘dumb’ devices, which are devices that remain isolated and are unable to conenct and interact with other devices via connection ports/ WiFi. -
