The first Long Distance telephone call happened on February 12, 1877. It was a total distance of 235 miles from Salem Massachusetts to Boston, Massachusetts. -

The Holocaust was the mass genocide of many different groups of people including Jews. It was led by Adolf Hitler and carried out by the Nazis. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941, Japan launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. This event led the United States to join World War ll. Over 2,400 Americans died that day. -
Japanese Internment Camp
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, president Roosevelt ordered the executive order 9066. This was the Internment of Japanese Americans. This was for the "safety" of Americans and gave the Americans no reason to worry about another attack. -
CIA Established
President Harry S. Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947, resulting in the establishment of the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). It was established to collect and evaluate the intelligence affecting national security. -
Murder of Emmett Till
Emmett Till, 14 year old boy from Chicago, visited his family in Mississippi. He went into a convenience store and spoke to a white woman. She accused him of cat-calling her. Her husband and his brother brutally beat Emmett to the point he was unrecognizable and killed him and left him in the river. -
US astronaut Orbits Earth
John Glenn boarded the Friendship 7 spacecraft and became the first US astronaut to orbit the Earth. He took 3 Orbits around the Earth and it lasted for a total of 4 hours and 55 minutes. -
"I Have a Dream" speech
Martin Luther King Jr. delivered the "I have a dream" speech during the March on Washington for jobs and freedom. It was a cry for equality of African Americans In the United States. The overall goal for this speech was to promote the idea of an end to racism. -
JFK assassination
President John F. Kennedy and his wife were riding in a motorcade in Dallas Texas when he got assassinated. Lee Harvey Oswald was found guilty of the shooting and assassination of the president. -
MLK assassination
Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed in Memphis Tennessee. James Earl Ray was found guilty of his assassination. He had escaped prison and killed MLK. This sparked riots across the country. -
Moon Landing
Apollo 19 took Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon. They became the first people to walk on the moon. At this point we had won the "space race" with Russia. -
9-11
On September 11, 2001, a terrorist group, al-Quada, hijacked four airplanes. Two of them went into the two world trade centers, one into the Pentagon, and the last one into a field in Pennsylvania. -
First case of Covid 19 in US.
The first case of Covid 19 was presented on January 19, 2020. A man in his 30's had just gotten back from China and brought the virus with him. However, there were people who were effected in the US before this date, this was just the first date it was recognized and known as Covid 19.
