The dataphone
In 1960 AT&T created the first commercial dataphone which was essentially an early version of what we call a modem today. -
The Silicone Chip
Created by jack Kilby and Robert Noyce the Silicone chip was introduced in 1961. Their invention would help miniaturize and create new technology and it most definitely helped paved the way for the development of the modern computer. -
1401 Mainframe
IBM introduced the 1401 mainframe in 1961. The 1401 mainframe was the first in the series of mainframes and would become the replacement for earlier vacuum tube technology. It would do this by replacing the older technology with new more reliable transistors -
CDC 6600 Supercomputer
The CDC 6600 supercomputer was invented by computer pioneer Seymour Cray in 1964. This was considered to be the first successful super computer being able to compute 3,000,000 instructions in just 1 second. This would cause the CDC 6600 Supercomputer to be the top supercomputer for the next 5 years until surpassed by its successor. -
(DRAM)- Dynamic Random Access Memory
In 1968 Robert Dennard an IBM engineer would go on to invent (DRAM) which stood for dynamic random access memory, which is known today as RAM, and is a crucial part of a lot of technology that we use today.
