Tech Across Teaching Career

  • Student teaching

    Student teaching
I did a year long student teaching experience through PDS in Pekin, IL! I learned so much & became super familiar with SmartBoards, manually entering in grades through the computer from a gradebook, and EDTPA video taping lessons to submit for grades!
  • First year teaching 3rd grade

    First year teaching 3rd grade
This was in my new school district, Washington District 52! I was as nervous as could be but so excited at the same time! This year was the hardest getting familiar with technology and curriculum. I only had a Math & Writing curriculum to follow at the time. I was fortunate enough that my students had 1:1 chromebooks. This is where I got familiar with GoogleClassroom & interactive games to implement in my instruction like Kahoot, IXL, and RazKids (listening to reading options)!

    2nd year teaching 3rd grade
This year I felt more confident in my technology skills and the school district since I was staying in the same grade level! I was still fortunate my students had 1:1 chromebooks and I used the same technology options as the year before. These options would go into my Daily 5 stations. I started to try math rotations this year following my EverydayMath curriculum! Students had the technology option to practice their skills on IXL!
  • 3rd year teaching FOURTH grade!

    3rd year teaching FOURTH grade!
My 3rd year teaching I started a new grade level! I was so nervous but I knew 4th grade couldn't be much different than 3rd grade! We still did not have a reading curriculum to follow so focused on Daily 5 options that included technology (listening to reading, storyworks, wordwork). Fourth grade had vocabulary words weekly that they studied through a website called Flocabulary! My students loved it! I also did math rotations and was introduced to XtraMath fact fluency this year!
  • 4th year teaching 4th grade

    4th year teaching 4th grade
This was my 2nd year teaching 4th grade so again, I felt more confident in my teaching skills! Everything stayed the same as the year before. We do teach Science & Social Studies interchangeably! We would use Mystery Science for science videos and experiments and technology wise for social studies, students would create GoogleSlide presentations on certain subjects or people! This was also the first year I started coaching cheerleading so it was BUSY!
  • 5th year still teaching 4th grade

5th year still teaching 4th grade
5th year teaching and finally the longest I had stayed in a grade level! I was loving 4th grade! I used to us the REMIND app to communicate with parents and monthly newsletters but this year I transitioned to ClassDojo and loved taking pictures of my students daily & posting them on our class story!! Students still had 1:1 chromebooks, we are using the same technology as stated before. The second half of this year was COVID! We had to teach online through Zoom!
  • 6th year teaching 4th grade (COVID!)

6th year teaching 4th grade (COVID!)
This was by far the hardest year of my teaching career this far! We found out days before school starting that we would be switching to remote learning. We had to create Genial.ly plans to send out to students through googleclassroom. All links were provided within the Genial.ly. We did daily Zoom meetings with our students in the mornings and had them work on assignments in the afternoon. We switched back to in person in October this year with spacing requirements & masks.
  • 7th year still teaching 4th grade

7th year still teaching 4th grade
Things were finally somewhat coming back to "normal" this year. We all still had to wear masks and had desks spread apart from others. We did the same as years before but more at their seat and not moving throughout the classroom. We still had Science & Social Studies and relied on GoogleClassroom for a lot! This year I got a student teacher from Jan-April. This made me reflect on my teaching a lot and it was so interesting to conference/ learn from one another!
  • 8th year teaching still 4th grade

8th year teaching still 4th grade
This year was a tough group for me. There were A LOT of needs and I had multiple students leave me for unfortunate reasons. We used QuizletLive to practice our vocabulary words from Flocabulary. We tried a new Social Studies program called StudiesWeekly that we thought was super dry. We had many listening to reading options on chromebooks (EPIC, StorylineOnline, Storyworks, Razkids). Students played Math games (Prodigy, IXL, XtraMath, Reflex, McGrawHill)! Their favorite game was Blooket!!
  • 9th year- current year teaching 4th grade!

9th year- current year teaching 4th grade!
This year has been one of the best years yet! I stopped coaching cheerleading to free up more time for myself! My students love using technology within our instruction. We finally got a reading curriculum to follow called CKLA! It is challenging at times to get used to but I know it is making an impact on their reading skills! We do not use Flocabulary anymore or social studies because both are incorporated in CKLA! Students can follow along on their chromebooks with the slides on my board!
