German students from universities came together in Berlin and other big cities to burn books with "unGerman" ideas. They targeted Einstein, Thomas Mann and others.
Its ironic that 100 years earlier Heinrich Heine stated that "Where books are burned, human beings are destined to be burned too." This is ironic because the Nazis are going after jews, and Heinrich was jewish. He is also saying they will get what they deserve for burning books.
