THE CURRENCY ACT
This act restricted colonies from using their currency which enraged the colonists. -
STAMP ACT
Taxed newspapers, legal documents, playing cards, etc. The stamps showed proof that it was taxed. -
DECLARATORY ACT
This act was passed by Parliament when the Stamp Act was nullified. This act meant that Parliament can create laws that unite the colonies. -
TOWNSEND ACT
This act proposed a tax on glass, paint, lead, and paper. Many people became even more enraged. -
LETTERS FROM A FARMER IN PENNSYLVANIA
John Dickinson stated that Parliament couldn't tax the people and declared the Townsend acts unconstitutional. Believed these were all threats to their liberties. -
MASSACHUSETTS CIRCULAR LETTER
Samuel Adams wrote a letter that attacked Parliament's endurance in taxing without representation. -
BOSTON MASSACRE
When the troops arrived in Boston, it sparked up tension between the citizens and troops. It became violent and 3 Americans were killed and others were fatally wounded. -
TEA ACT
This act was meant to bail out the East India Company so the British government gave the East India Company a ton of money for the importation of tea. -
BOSTON TEA PARTY
Some colonies did not want the tea to be shipped there but kept sending tea anyways. This enraged the people so Samuel Adams mounted 3 ships in Boston and threw 342 boxes of tea into the ocean.
