Due to a careless emperor who ignored public affairs in 755 C.E., An Lushan mounted a rebellion. He not only seized the capital at Chang'an, but he also captured the second most important capital, Luoyang. -

An Lushan's Army
The Tang forces finally managed to suppress Lushan's army in 763 C.E. Not only that, but they also recaptured Chang'an and Luoyang. It was a very short rebellion. Interestingly enough though, the army was captured various years after the murder of Lushan. -

The Uprising of Huang Chao
In 875 C.E. there was an uprising led by Huang Chao, a known military general. He engaged much of eastern China in a complicated situation. His uprising ended in 884 C.E. -
Collapse of the Tang Dynasty
One of the reasons the Roman Empire collapsed was because it was so large. Similarly, the vast size of the Tang dynasty also brought about its end. As the size increased, the power of the local warlords also increased, which was problematic. -
