    Introduction of Boeing 747 'Jumbo Jet'
    The Jumbo Jet was serviced on the 22nd of January 1970. It was the first quad-jet engine and dual level passenger aircraft. They also call this Jumbo Jet by different names such as "Queen of Skies". It can hold up to 366 passengers in three travel classes. Also, it is the world's longest airliner. Another thing is that, it was Pam Am who has launched customer for the 747.

    Car ownership in the UK reached 11 million
    In 1970 there was 545.35 cars on the road. The best-selling car in 1973 was " Chevrolet Monte Carlo". Over 77% of households in Great Britain have a car and because of car owning households tend to have more than one person. The number of people with access to a car in the house is 81% of the total population. In 1970 the number was just over a third of that, at 13.5 million.

    Concorde, was the first supersonic passenger-carrying commercial aeroplane. The Concorde made it's first transatlantic crossing on September 26, 1973. It continuously ran for 300 hours. On July 25th 2000, an Air France Concorde crashed 60 seconds after taking off from Paris en route to New York. All 109 people aboard and four on the ground we're killed. Air France and British Airways we're the only airlines to purchase and fly Concordes.

    In 1982 British people made 20 million visits abroad. In the UK Thomas Cook began promoting foreign holidays in the early 1950's with charter flights marking the first mass holiday packages. Discounting became a rife as the last price controls we're abolished. Harry Goodman, became a media personality, acquiring many other companies and setting up his own airline.

    Ryanair was founded as "Danren Enterprises by Christopher Ryan. Ryanair have 258 aircrafts. Ryanair is the Europe's largest airline group is the parent company of Buzz, Lauda , Malta Air and Ryanair. They launched their first route in July with daily flights on a 15 seater Bandeirante aircraft. Ryanair carried 82,000 passengers in it's first full year in operation. Ryanair is set up by the Ryan Family with a share capital of just £1 and a staff of 25.

    In the 1980's there was an era of huge growth in package holidays. New technology made reservations simpler, there was a corresponding growth in the number of high streets travel agents, with Thomas Cook being overtaken by Lunn Poly. Air Europe wanted to operate not only charter but also regular scheduled services.

    In 1994 EasyJet was launched. EasyJet started flying in March 1995. The first flight from London to Glasgow took off on the 10 November 1995. EasyJet began in London and is 26 years old. EasyJet are founded by Stelios Haji-Loannou. The aircraft used by the airline during the first year we're leased from British Airways. EasyJet bought the first of it's own planes in April 1996

    Channel Tunnel opened
    In a ceremony presided over by Queen Elizabeth 2nd and French President Francois Mitterrand. Connecting Britain and the European mainland for the first time since the Ice Age. It was taken more than 5 years to be completed and more than 13,000 workers from England and France. The Channel Tunnel is a 50.46 kilometres railway tunnel. The fastest journey time to London to Paris is 2 hours and 29 minutes. It is one of the safest ways to travel.

These are some of the biggest films and tv events that inspired travel in the last two decades. “The Beach” in 2000 was Leonardo Di Caprio’s first film outing since the Titanic it was about a traveller in Thailand. It inspired millions of tourists to visit Maya Bay beach.

    The September the 11th attacks, also referred as the 9/11 , we're a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks. The impact left a gaping, burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110 story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people. The first plane to hit was American Airlines Flight 11. It was flown in the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 am. Seventeen minutes later at 9:03 am, the World Trade Center South Tower was hit by United Airlines Flight 175. 2977 people were killed.

    On December 26, 2004, tragedy in the Indian Ocean when an undersea earthquake caused a series of large tsunami waves, growing up to 30 tall. It affected 14 countries including Indonesia, Thailand, and India. Many tourists were caught up in the tsunami, with more having to cancel trips to the area. The tsunami killed 227,898 people in the 14 countries. The tsunami lasted 7 hours and destroyed 141,000 homes.

    The first TripAdvisor iPhone app was launched in 2010 and a partnership with Facebook was also announced. By 2015 TripAdvisor had 320 million reviews on the site. Most people use TripAdvisor to see all the reviews from other people of where they have been. The purpose of TripAdvisor is to help people around the world plan and have the perfect trip. TripAdvisor provides travellers with reviews of hotels, restaurants, and tourism activities.

Instagram is a successful social media marketing platform because of its large growing base. One billion people use Instagram. All famous people use Instagram to show fans what they do.

The travel industry was one of the worst hit by Covid, Turnover in travel and tourism fell to its lowest level in May 2020.

By 2018, the number of foreign holidays reached an all time high 47 million, with spending hitting £45.4 billion and 292.1 million passengers flying out of UK airports. Foreign holidays are increasing nearly 10 million in that time. Everyone enjoys going away as its a holiday that everyone looks forward to.

Even though Covid is still around they will make sure you have facial coverings on and stay social distanced around the airport. Also you must wear your face masks on the flight. They offered deals when booking holidays as people haven't been away in so long. They also would pay anything to get away and have some freedom.
