The Beginning
At fifteen she married 20 year old Almeron Dickinson in Bolivar, Tenessee. -
The end of a long journey
After only being married for a few of months, the couple left Tenessee. They arrived in Texas to claim their land somewhere around San Antonio de Bexar. -
Joyous Miracle
Shortly before Christmas, Susanna gave birth to their daughter, Angelina Elizabeth. -
Mexico Surrenders
The Mexican army surrendered San Antionio over to the Texans. However, there were still rumors going around that Mexico was planning to strick again. -
Seeking Shelter
With the fear of Santa Anna close by, Almeron took Susanna and Angelina to the Alamo for protection. -
Looming Threat
In the mist of all the gun smoke, Susanna and the other women continue on with their daily duties of making breakfast and stuff. However, when she went to get the corn out of the ammunition room she noticed that they were extremely low on gunpowder and ammunition. -
Reinforcement
After days of being stuck behind the walls of the Alamo reinforcements had finally came to help fight. -
Hope may still be alive
32 men from Gonzales arrived to help the people of the Alamo fight. They also brought them word of talks about Independence. Susanna if they could just hang on a little longer that more Texans would come and help. -
Preparing for Battle
While Susanna and several others were in a meeting with James Bonham and Coloner William Travis, Santa Anna's men started surrounding the Alamo. -
Under Attack!
In the early morning, before dawn, Santa Anna's army began attacking and storming the walls of the Alamo. After 12 long days of waiting, it was over. Almost everyone that was in the confines of the Alamo had lost their lives. Susanna and her daughter, however, survived, but she was summoned to meet with Santa Anna. -
"Remeber the Alamo"
Susanna was sent away from the Alamo with a message for Sam Houston to back down. Once she found Sam Houston she told him everything about the fall of the Alamo and how brave everyone had been to stay and fight. Even though Almeron had lost his life, Susanna was no longer afraid to face her future.
