  • Speech at the Daughter's of Temperance

Speech at the Daughter's of Temperance
Susan B. Anthony made a public speech to raise awareness on putting limitations on the sale of liquor. This was during a time when women were treated as property, as we're not able to divorce from abusive relationships. This can be seen as one of her first attempts at equal rights advocacy.
  • The "Whole" World's Temperance Convention and Fair Wages

The "Whole" World's Temperance Convention and Fair Wages
Susan B. Anthony helped organize the Whole World's Temperance Convention that incorporated women delegates, who were previously not listened to or recognized due to being women. The same year she also helped draft a fair wage code in Rochester to help women earn fair and equal pay as their male counterparts. This year showed her that there are others around who want to fight for the same cause and that the power of numbers is needed to make a change.
  • Women's Loyal National League

    Women's Loyal National League
Susan B. Anthony helped form the Women's Loyal National League, the national women's political organization. She was the secretary and their main focus was abolishing slavery and their campaign helped garner over 400,000 signatures, greatly impacting the 13th Amendment. While not directly related to equal rights amongst women, this helped to incorporate black men and women to be treated equally and provided Susan B. Anthony with the knowledge and skills to continue fighting for women's rights.
  • National Woman's Suffrage Association

    National Woman's Suffrage Association
Susan B. Anthony helped form the National Woman's Suffrage Association, which aimed to incorporate women's rights to vote. This association was formed due to the lack of women being included in the upcoming 15th amendment, which allowed men to vote regardless of race or color. Anthony and the NWSA aimed to campaign for a proposed 16th amendment, which would prevent the denial to vote based on race. Their goal did not come true until the 19th amendment in 1920, 14 years after Anthony's death.
