This is where she met her long time partner Elizabeth Cady Stanton. -
Began to participate in the temperance movement
During this time, she was denied a chance to speak at a temprence convention because she was a women. She then realized that no one would take women in politics seriously unless they had the right to vote. This inspired her to fight for women's rights. -
Established the Women's New York Temperance movement
She established this with her partner Stanton in 1852. -
Decided to form the New York State Women's Rights Commitee
Also formed this with her partner Stanton. -
Established the American Equal Rights Association
Also formed this with Stanton. -
Created and produced ¨The Revolution¨
This lobbied for women's rights. Their motto was ¨Men their rights, and nothing more;woman their rights, and nothing less. -
Founded the National Women Suffrage Association
Her and Stanton formed this together as well. -
Illegally voted in the Presidential Election
This was the election of 1872. She was arrested and unsuccessfully fought the charges; she was fined $100 that she never paid. -
Death
The previous year, she attempted to lobby president Theodore Roosevelt into passing an amendment that gave women the right to vote. She died at the age of 86. 14 years after she died, the 19th amendment was passed, giving women the right to vote. Her portrait was put on the dollar coins in 1979. She was considered the first woman to be honored that greatly.
