In 1980, Shawn Stussy started the brand Stussy. Originally a surfboard manufacturer, Shawn began to put his signature on his surfboards with a broad tip marker. He made this his logo and began to put the logo on shirts, pants, and hats.

In 1984, Shawn Stussy partnered up with Frank Sinatra Jr. (no relation to singer). The two opened their own shop and no longer sold the products out of their van.

In 1984, Stussy expanded and opened a store in Europe.

Later in 1988, The third store was opened up in Soho, New York.

In 1991 the brand reached in 17 million in sales. The brands continues to grow.

In 1996 Shawn Stussy resigned from president and left teh brand for the Sinatra family.

Stussy today can be found across the world and in sold in high-priced boutique shops.
