Magna Carter (The Great Charter of the Liberties)
On June 15, 1215 a peace was agreed by King John of England. It was used to make peace between an un-popular king and a group of rebels called barons, protection for church rights, protection for the rebels from being illegally imprisioned. Both sides didn't hold up to the bargin of the deal, and was declared invalid. This lead to the first Baron's war. -
Mayflower Compact Signed
This was signed and agreed upon the people, that they would live in a society to preserve order and to help them further future plans. -
The Petition of Rights Signed
This is an objectiong to King Charles 1authority of power, the citizens thought he was taking it overboard. The citizens saw his placement in power as infringment of their civil rights. -
New England Confederation Approved.
A military alliance that was short-lived. It was created provide a united defense against the Dutch, French, and Native Americans. -
English Bill of Rights Signed
It was a parliament passed by Great Britiain. It declared rights and liberties for the people. -
Albany Plan of Union
It was a proposal to make a unified government for the 13 colonies. It was suggest by Benjamin Franklin. -
Decleration of Independence was Signed
This was the official declaration of America's Independence from Great Britain. -
Second Continental Congress meets
Delegates of America pleaded with George III to get to a peaceful resolvement and declared their loyalty. -
Articles of Confederation Adopted
created a loose confederation of sovereign states. -
Constitituional Convention meets
At this convention, everyone agreed that the Articles of confederation had to be modified. -
Federalist Papers Written/ Constition ratified
The federalist consisted of 85 letters, written and sent to newspaper by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay. Congress adopted 12 amendments that they wanted to be put into the bill of rights, and sent them to the states to be ratified on 1789. 10 out of twelve of them were ratified in 1791. -
Bill of Rights Adopted
Articles 3- 12 were ratified by three- fourths of the state legislatures and constitute the first ten amendments of the Constitution.
