    This book discussed how the television had a huge influenece on childrenand are vulnerable to images that they see on T.V. Teenagers are also influenced by what is shown on T.V. because they feel like they have to live up to the stereotypes that are portrayed on T.V.
  • The Percieved Realism of African American Portrayals on Television

    This journal argued that some people believe the roles portrayed by blacks on T.V. were real and true to life. The stereotypes that are used for entertainment often alter the vviewers beliefs and perception of blacks over time. The journal also argued that the jobs bkacks are often seen playing in movies or shows are servants, maids, or struggling to find a job .

    This article argued that even though there were many inroads, there really has not been any change in media stereotyping since the beginning of color T.V. There are many degrading shows out in the media and these images ruin the minds of young whites who grow up to believe that people of color are angry, violent criminals and thugs. The news media is also known for being bias against criminals and portrays them just as they're stereotyped.

    This article argues that media bias inforces how African Americans are percieved by the society. Many white Americans have implicit racial bias against African Americans. When blacks are crime suspects they are always percieved in the media as more threatning than whites in the media and treated with more aggression by police on reality T.V. crime shows. The mass media is a huge contributor to America's misconceptions.
