  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act made the colonists pay a tax for every printed item they bought. This included papers, legal documents, licenses, and newpapers. The colonists hated the Stamp Act because they had no say in it whatsoever.
  • Declatory Act

    The Declatory Act stated that the British had the authority to tax any items in American colonies as if they were in Great Britain. It helped change/lessen the Sugar Act and joined the repeal of the stamp act.
  • Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts were a series of laws passed by Parliament. The Townshend acts placed a tax on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. Many colonists saw the Townshend Act as an abuse of power. Parliament repealed all the townshend duties except the one on tea.

    The Boston Massacre was a small street fight between colonists and British "red coats." The colonists began throwing objects at the British soldiers, when one of the soldiers was hit badly, he fell down. The other "red coats" thought the colonists had opened fire on them and started shooting. Five male colonsists died.

  • Lexington and Concord

    General Thomas Gage sent British soldiers quartered in Boston to Lexington and Concord where they would try to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock, they would then also seize their gunpowder. Spies of the colonists including Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Samuel Prescott warned the colonsists that the "British were coming." They had a smalll militia of men waiting at Lexington to stall the British before arriving at Concord

    When Paul Revere, Wentworth, and William Dawes found out that the British were going to attack the colonists they set out to warn everyone at Lexington and Concord. They exclaimed "the british are coming, the british are coming."
