After a Civil War due to Charles I, Oliver Cromwell takes over and rules as Lord Protector and making England the Puritan Republic, but Cromwell is just as hated as Charles I

Charles II promised to announce his conversion to Catholicism after the Clarendon code which granted tolerance to all those except the Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, and Independents. -
Popish Plot
Charles II wife was presumably plotting with Jesuits so that James II could assume the throne, this caused Charles II to not recall Parliament for 14 years. -

Did not rule for long as he suspended free worship, imprisoned seven of his bishops and this made the opposition of Parliament invite William of Orange to invade England -
Glorious Revolution
William of Orange and his wife Mary became William III and Mary II. They recognized a Bill of Rights for England, which in the end limited the power of the monarchy and kept Parliament
