The Articles of Confederation adopted
The central government was left very weak by the Articles of Confederation a document that gave most of the power to the states. This happened out of fear fo being ruled by another king. -
Debate over the Bill of Rights
The Debate was over the protecting citizens rights. Delgates thought these rights had to be a part of the Constitution. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris gave all of the land from the Atlantic to the Mississippi River. -
Shay's Rebellion
In Massachussets farmers were getting riled up about the Articles of Confederation. This rebellion agaisnt tax on land was led by Daniel Shay. -
The Constitutional Convention
The Constitutional Convention took place in Annapolis, Maryland in 1787. It consisted of 55 white delgates and 0 black. The virginia Plan, The New Jersey plan, The Great Comprimise, and the Constitution were all discused there. -
The Virginia Plan
The Virginia Plan had the idea of 3 branches of government the Executive, Legislative, and the Judicial branch and this was proposed by James Madison. -
The New Jersey Plan
The New Jersey plan gave all of the states an equal number of representatives. This way, the large states had no more powere than the small states. -
The Great Comprimise
This plan, proposed by Roger Sherman cased the government to have 2 seperate houses. -
Northwest Ordinace
This law gave other territories the chance to become a state. -

The Preamble is the first line of the constitution "We the People of the United States" (Constitution countinued.) -
Signing o fthe Constitution
All of the Delgates signed the Constitution. -
The Constitution is ratified by first state
Delaware was the first state to ratify the constitution. It would be a ling time before two thirds of the states ratified it making it official. -
Four more states ratify the Constitution
Pennslvania, New Jersey, Conneticut, and Georgia ratify the Constitution. -
Constitution ratified by one more state
New Hampshire ratifies the Constituiton. The Constitution is now law. -
First President of the United States is elected
George Washington is elected as the first president of the United States. He had 0 votes against him. -

Constitution ratified by final state
Rhode Island becomes the very last state to ratify the Constitution. -
The BIll of Rights is added to the Constitution
The 10 amendments of the Bill of Rights have been added to the Constitution. -
Supreme Court gained certain right
They can now stop any law passed if it is considered unconstitutional.
