Began Hero Project!
-
Watched Kristi Quillen's Peace Corps Interview
-
Began to consider a hero that had been in service or a strong female leader
-
Began to consider Aung San Suu Kyi, Hilary Clinton, Elizabeth I, and Margaret Thatcher as possible candidates
-
Chose Aung San Suu Kyi as hero and went to library, where I had abosolutely no luck (same with the bookstore)
-
Late at Night: Decided that Aung San Suu Kyi is overdone and that I should choose someone else not as well known
-
Went to the library and got books on Elizabeth I and Marie Curie.
I really did try to read these books but every time I attempted reading, I fell asleep (and that doesn't happen often). I realized these were too boring. -
Early Morning: Still thinking about who to do..I had to put my thinking cap on..
-
Late Afternoon: Had an epiphany.
My grandfather was in WW2 and recently passed away. His war stories always invoked a spark of pride inside me; just knowing that he helped save the world and survive some of the scariest things. I decided I wanted to choose someone from that time period, who was in service, and was female. Nancy Wake was the only one who could check all of those requirements off ( and had a biography). -
