Stage 1
Infancy- Birth to 1 year.
Learns to development random noises.
The infant learns to survive outside the mothers uterus.
NEEDS----Provides a safe environment to prevent injury. Meets the needs for foods, sleep, and warmth. -
Stage 2
Toddler- Age 1-3.
This is a period of endless activity getting into everything.
Becomes more coordinated; walking, reaching, and eating.
NEEDS---- Maintains a safe environment by eliminating hazards. Sits down when possible, when talking to the toddler. -
Stage 3
Preschool- Ages 3-5.
Kids this age are very energetic and curious, all they ask is "why".
The preschooler has better control of complex muscular movements; running, jumping, and climbing.
NEEDS---- Maintains the rules of conduct already set in the home. Is consistent and clear with acceptable behavior. -
Stage 4
School- Age 6-12.
Slow but steady physical growth.
At 12 years of age, a rapid growth spurt indicating the transition to adolescence.
NEEDS---- Provides adequate nutrition. Reinforces rules set for bedtime; adequate rest and sleep are very important. -
Stage 5
Adolescence- Age 12-18.
These are years of conflict and adjustments.
Develops sexual characteristics that can be embarrassing to some people.
NEEDS---- Respects the rights to privacy. Continues to reinforce safety-conscious behavior. -
Stage 6
Adulthood- Age 18-65.
Establishing and maintaining a meaningful life.
Accepts body image.
NEEDS---- Assists the client to maintain independence during activities of daily living for as long as possible. Encourages communication of feelings and emotions. -
Stage 7
Older Adulthood- Age 65-100.
Experiences many changes such as physical, emotional, and social.
Adjusts to retirement and the different lifestyle.
NEEDS---- Provides extra time for client to accomplish task. Maintaining a safe and calm environment.
