Children with disabilities have a right to an education; Also making sure they had due process in education, holding local and state agencies accountable. -
Assistive Technology Act
Also known as the Tech Act.
This Act helped provide technology to people with disabilities. This provided them to participate in education and other daily activity just as other members of society. -
Americans with Disabilities Act
This Act prohibited discrimination against persons with disabilities in employment, public services and other accommodations. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
Also known as IDEA
This Act stated children with disabilities were entitled to a free and appropriate education. It also stated each student's education will have an individualized education program. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (Reauthorization)
Made sure every states had polices in place so all students with disabilities have free appropriate education -
No Child Left Behind Act
Require states to test students in reading and math from 3rd-8th grade and only once in high school.
Several federal education programs were point in place and ran through the states. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (2004)
This re-authorization in 2004 focused on results and the data. It wanted more accountability. And it also had wanted to place intervention to keep students out of special education.
