  • Larry Vs Riles

    This court case was about 6 African American students placed in special education due to IQ scores. The court ruled the IQ test were discriminatory against African American students
  • Mills Vs. Board of education of the district of Columbia

    in this case 7 students had been identified as having behavioral problems or being mentally retarded, emotionally disturbed, and hyperactive. All of the students were excluded from school or denied educational services that would have addressed the needs that arose from their identified disabilities. The court ruled that the school have violated their right to a public education. It also ruled that lack of funding could not effect the students right to a free education
  • P.A.R.C Vs. Pennsilvania

    This case used Brown vs the board to argue that 14 children were denied access to public education based "relieved from providing a public education to any child that a psychologist determines is “uneducable and untrainable." The court ruled that the school was obligated to place children in a free, public program of education appropriate to the child’s capacity.
  • Irving Independent school distric Vs. Tatro

    This court case was about an 8 year old with spinal bifida. The child needed catherization every 4 hours. The court ruled that catherization would fall under "relative services" and the school had to provide this service to the child.
  • Honing Vs. Doe

    The Honig decision U.S. Supreme Court dealt with the issue of expelling a disabled child based on actions arising out of that child’s disability. In this case about a 17 year old student the court created what is now known as the “ten-day rule,” which allows a school to only suspend a child for up to ten days without parental consent or court intervention. A student could not be removed from school if the inappropriate behavior is a result of their disability.
