It provided the estential needs so that children that had disadvantaged backgrounds still could attend public school. This was attempted to make sure all students needs were met so they could all succeed in instruction. This was a big strive in creating more socio-economically equal public school. -
Pennslyvania association for retarded children v commonwealth of Pennsynvania
This made it illegal for public schools to not alllow childern with disablitlies to not be allowed a public education. This is the first time that it became mandatory to include children with disabilities in public schools. -
Mills vs Board of Education
This suit required that the state provide adequate alterative education if the student is to difficult to have in class. It also required states to provide documention of incidents and how the switch would benefit the student more. It was the first time it held districts accountable for special education -
Education for all handicap children act
Required IEP for the first time. Required states to provide free education for those with disabilities. -
Americans with Disabilities Act
Prevents the discrimation of people with disabilities in the private sphere. This help allowed for better and more equal education in private schools. -
Individuals with Disabilites Education Act
Required schools to expand the level inclusion special education students are exposed to.Required special education to take part in statewide assessment, Required IEP to be more detailed and involve behavioral management. -
Individuals with Disabilties Education Improvement Act
Allows for districts to use RTI to determine if a child has a certain learning disability. It also raised standards on special education liciences to have better educated teachers.
