    The act provided funds for a variety of materials used in a library that could help children with disabilities read books.
  • PARC v. Pennsylvania & Mills v. D.C. Board of Education (1972)

    PARC v. Pennsylvania & Mills v. D.C. Board of Education (1972)
    PARC association took to court the Pennsylvania law that denied children with disabilities to go to school along side of other children. The case was won in their favor and it initiated the process nation wide.
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (1973)

    Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (1973)
    This law was officially put into place after the constant rights were denied of students with disabilities. The law was transformed into an equal opportunity for all students to have accessible, affordable, and suitable education.
  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act (1975)

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act (1975)
    This law came into effect to supported free education for all. Handicapped students will also have financial support for programs and services to suit them.
  • Final Federal Regulations of EAHCA (1977)

    Final Federal Regulations of EAHCA (1977)
    The laws prior to this event failed to show a large improvement in discrimination. This regulation of EAHCA held positions for those who could regulate the laws were being enforced in schools.

    Handicapped Children's Protection Act (1986)
    The Handicapped Children's Protection Act assisted to provide funds to allow for involvement between the child's education, parents, and outside assistance. The IEPs became largely used during this time.

    Although this act was not completely focused on the education of students, this was a major event that refrained from discrimination of any type that would affect their rights. This is important because those students deserve the same rights outside of their education.

    Public Law 101-47 (1990)
    The law redefined what would be considered a disability. Added to group would be traumatic brain injuries and autism.
  • IDEA Reauthorized (1997)

    IDEA Reauthorized (1997)
    This act allowed for students with disabilities to participate in assessments. It also allowed for teachers to be apart of the IEP process.
  • IDEA Improvement Act (2004)

    IDEA Improvement Act (2004)
    This act goes into better detail that involves the the qualifications of a special education teacher. The improvement also contributed to early intervention strategies.
