    This case involves a young girl who has a hearing impairment. Amy Rowley was a kindergarten student who was deaf and has minimal residual hearing. After a meeting with Amy parents and administrators the decision was to have Amy enter a General Ed classroom with accommodations and supportive services.

    In this case the courts decision was supported, which was to provide students with an education that will help them achieve. One of the supplementary aids that was ruled by the judge was to provide Amy with a FM hearing aid and interpreter. after a review the district was found in compliance and determined the interpreter was not needed any longer.

    Honig v. Doe, 484 U.S. 305
    A seventeen-year-old child in San Francisco in 1988, who identity was kept confidential referring to him as John Doe. Doe has been found to have an emotional disability that included impulse-control and anger issues. Doe was suspended and later expelled from school after a meeting that included a school district committee, due to his actions and response after being taunted by a student. It was said that he chocked a student and kicked out a school window.

    In 1988 the court addressed the IDEA’s “Stay-put” provision explaining that in enacting the “stay-put” provision congress intended to strip schools of their unilateral authority to exclude, expel or suspend students with disabilities from public schools.

    Final Ruling Summary
    While be suspended the entire time of the expulsion process. Doe felt that he was wronged, and his rights were violated in more than one way. Doe decided to move forward a file a suit against the San Francisco school board and superintendent Bill Hoing. The rulings found that the district failed to adhere to the 'Stay Put" Act for children with disabilities.

    The final ruling determined that Daniel will not be placed in a general education setting. However, with it being a benefit for children to spend a portion of their day with children without disabilities, the law states that all children should be provided with a free and appropriate education. For children whom may not master particular skills, it’s imperative to consider a more inclusive restricted environment that will center around the children individual needs.

    This case is about a six year old boy that is handicapped, Daniel has a speech impairment and mental retardation. the local school district has failed to place the boy in a general ed classroom environment due to his handicap. At the time of the case his communication skills was delayed by four years and his developmentally behind rearing three years.
