  • Mills v. Board of Education of the District of Columbia

    Mills argued that they were unable to render education to students with disabilities because of the lack of funds. The courts stated that no child could be denied an education based on their inabilities nor disabilities.   • Board of Education v. Rowley

    Amy Rowley was the parent a child that was deaf. During an IEP meeting, Amy wanted her child to receive a sign language interpreter in each class in which she felt was her right under the IDEA. She took the case to the U.S. District courts where she won.   • Honig v. Doe

    Honig case was concerning a child that was expelled from school due to disruptive behavior. The grandparents of the child argued that under the IDEA they felt their grandchild should not have gotten expelled from school. The case was heard in court and ruled in favor of the grandparents. This is when the courts ruled "ten-day-rule" that stated no child can be expelled with a disability up to ten days without a parental consent or the courts. https://www.loc.gov/item/usrep484305/
