Laika was the first dog into soace. Laika is a laika. Laika's are Russian hunting dogs. Laika was a stray dog found on the streets. Laika was found by the Russian space people. Laika was put into the spunik 2 as a test subject to see if humans can go into space. it was revieled that Laika died of being too hot and stress. -
1st USA satellite succesfully sent into space
This event is important because USA is making up for their late start in the spacerace. The first succesful USA satellite was named Explorer 1. The satellite was shaped like a mini rocket. It took about 115 minutes to orbit the Earth, it's 80in long, and it had a diameter of 6.25 inches. This satellite discovered Allen radiation belts around Earth. It went back into our atmosphere in Mach 31, 1970. -

This event is important because the USA thought creating Nasa ( back then it was called Naca ) would give them a better chance of winning the spacerace. Nasa is a space company specializing in discoveries of space. They created a few helpful things almost everyone uses. -
