Ham the Astrochimp
Ham was trained to pull levers in the space craft while in space and then sent in a capsule to space. he was able to return from space almost drowning in water. This taught NASA that human could be sent to space being able to conduct motor controls.

Was a spacecraft launched on the surveyor program as well as being the first in the program. It was the first Machine to land on the moon softly. This showed the technology to land on the moon soft for the Apollo.

Apollo 1
This was the first manned Apollo mission but did not end well before being launched a fire that started in the cockpit killing Virgil Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chaffee. there were many oxygen problems on the vessel that caused this such as high oxygen levels and a sour smell.

Apollo 8
Apollo 8 was the first manned vessel to enter the orbit of the moon as well as coming home safe. There was a live broadcast of this event showing the moon and listening to one of the crew members speeches.
