Sputnik one is launched
Sputnik was the first artifical earth satillite to oribt the earth. It was only the size of a beach ball. This little satillite is what started the space race. The russians now have just started a war.This was important because sputnik was a suprise to us and we thought theywere gonna bomb us sence they sent out this satellite. -
Sputnik 2 is launched
Sputnik 2 caried a dog named Lakia and it showed that humans could go into space. Sputnik 2 was a 4 meter (13 foot) high cone capsule with a base of 2 meters (6.6 feet) that weighed around 500 kg. Lakia did not make it back to earth the sputnik 2 burned up and so did the dog.This was important cause know we know we can send peole into space instead of dogs or sateilltes. -
The 1 satellite is launched
The U.S.A launched the second artifical satillte into space. First was sputnik one. The satellite was named vangaurd 1. It lasted for three years unitl it died.This was important because we need a satellite so it made the russians scared of us to. -
Luna 3 is launched
Luna 3 is launched by ruissa and takes photos of 70% of the moons surface. The probe was 130cm long and 120cm at its maxium diameter at the flange.This was important cause we have to know what the surface looks like on the moon. -
Alan B. goes to space
America lauches Alan B. shepard into space. Alan B. shepard jr. is the first man to go to space. This was important cause know we can send someone to the moon know that we know that were ready for it. -
Mariner 2 is in space.
The U.S.A. launched mariner 2 and on dec. 14 1962 mariner 2 flies past venus and enters a solar oridt. This was important because We have accoplished something that the russians have not. -
President Kenndney was assinated
President Jhon F. Kenndney was assinated and every body was pretty sad about it. This was important because who was gonna give us the orders to launch things and run our goverments. -
Venus 3 Launchedd into space
The russians launched venus 3. It was the first man made object to impact with venus. This was important because nobody has had a man made object impact venus and come back alive back then. -
Frank Borman, James Lovell, and Willams Annders go to space
Frank, James, and Willam all start there adventure from earth to the moon. On christmas eve they take turns reading genesis in a broadcast around the world. This is important because everybody around the world and they have know whats going on. The astronauts did not have mics. -
Neil armstrong and Edwin "buzz" land on the moon
Neil and Edwin "buzz" take the first steps on the moon while there crew mate oribts the moon alone. This was important because almost everbody was watching this happen and they made back to earth safely
