Russian Empire
The Russian Empire was an Empire that expanded from Poland to the Pacific Ocean. The Empire was very powerful and had a tyrant leader. This leader favored the rich and the middle and lower class starved. -
Russian Revolution
Russian citizens rose up against the leader of the Russian Empire. The citizens of Russia won the revolution. As a new form of government the citizens chose a Dictator and Communist government led by Vladamir Lenin. -
Russian Civil War
Two groups the Reds (Communists) and Whites (Capitalists) started a Civil War in Russia. Vladamir Lenin and Reds won the Civil War. After the war, Lenin gave a speech outlining that people cannot disagree with the leader and the dictator has complete control. Lenin was assassinated by a White group member, and Joseph Stalin took over. -
World War II
World War II is where Nazi Germany took over a bunch of Russia's land, but then the Cold War started. -
Start of the Cold War
At the start of the Cold War, it was really cold. Russia than took back that land that Nazi Germany took over and took a little more. That land was called the Iron Curtian. -
Iron Curtain was Formed
The Iron Curtain was the land that Russia took past their border. That land was almost impossible to conquer because the only way to get there was to go straight into it. -
Red Scare
The Red Scare is when the US told everyone that communism (reds) was bad and that capitalism is really good. Their goal was to get the country scared of communism so if Russia came in they would not accept communism. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis is when the US found some nuclear bombs in Cuba and saw pictures of the leader of Russia and Cuba together. They found out that those bombs were Russia's and had to do something about it. They decided to surround the island with huge boats and talk it out. -
Fall of the Soviet Union
At the very end of the Soviet Union, the leader signed new laws and they had less power. They also spent too much money on military and didn't keep up with the modern times.
