The apartheid finally was over on this date freeing up many things for the people in south Africa. -

This was the country's first multiracial election and was very sucsessful for Mandela. -

It was quite expected that the African National Congress won the South Africa's election by a landslide. -

Aound 100,000 gold miners go on strike over pay, bringing the industry to a uter halt. -
Dismissed
The corruption charges against president Zuma where dismissed, raising his bid for the presidency. -
Mandela's Death
Mandela died on this date, shortly after being given the Noble piece prize.
