The Dutch (known as Boers or Afrikaners) traveled to South Africa in 1952. The Dutch were at war in South Africa it was called the Boer war. There were two boer wars in South Africa, the dutch were in both of them. -

When diamonds and gold were found in South Africa more and more people started to go to South Africa. More miners were traveling to South Africa to mine diamonds and gold hoping to get lots of money. With lots more people in South Africa the blacks were not being treated very well. -

The Prohbitaion of mixed Marriages was banned in 1949. A white person could not marry a colored person. A colored person could marry a different race of people than their own but not whites. Diferent races of children could play together, the men could work with other races, and the women could socialize with people from another race. -

The Population Registration Act separated the people into whites, blacks, and colors. People had to have their color cards or cought with out it then they would have to go to jail. Thismade people even more mad about apartheid. -

In 1962 Nelson Mandela was put into prision at the age of 46. Nelson Mandela was in prision for 27 years because he was an anti apartheid activist. Nelson spent most of these years on Robben Island. -
Steve Biko Death
Steve Biko died on September 12, 1972. Steve Biko died from injureys to the head in police custody. Steve Biko was being takin to a hospital in a prision but biko died before they made it. -
