I was in foster care for about 5 years
I got put into foster care at the age of 2 and it was definitely an eye opener. I was super young and at that age, I didn't know much, but it sadly taught me to fend for myself and be independent because my time in foster care wasn't the best. However, it has taught me to be resilient in the long run (for the most part). the agent of socialization would be family. -
My first day at school!
I was 6 when I entered kindergarten, and I was pretty excited! There I learned so much from my teacher and I made plenty of friends through conversations. (Side note, my kindergarten teacher was the reason I wanted to be an elementary school teacher :D) The agent of socialization was school. -
I got adopted
I was 7 years old when I got adopted and it taught me to always have hope and be optimistic. The agent of socialization would be family. -
I started middle school
I was about 12 when I started middle school, and I learned a lot of the way people perceive others. It wasn't the best time however, I discovered more of myself during that time. The agent of socialization is school. -
I moved across the country from California to live in Michigan
I was about 14 when I moved her from California to live closer to my family up in Canada, and It definitely took a toll on me because I was leaving behind everything to live somewhere completely new and very different. I've lived here for 4 years, and the first 2 years were very rough for me because I missed everyone and everything so much, however, I learned to make new friends and meet new people which helped me a lot. I went to Europe in 2023
I was 17 when I had the privilege to go to Europe on a school trip and I actually paid for the whole thing myself which made me happy. It taught me how to be a bit more independent and I was without my parents for a whole week and half so it was very different. I had an amazing time and it taught me to live my life in the moment. The agent of socialization is peers/school.
