    Spread of maize cultivation
    Corn was one of the most important crops grown by Native American peoples in Mexico and South America. Early Native American people even worshipped a corn god. The growth of corn in the Americas helped shape the shift of people from nomadic hunting bands to settled agricultural villagers. Corn had a huge impact on Pueblo culture as well. This opned the door for people to settle, having a permenant crop allowed them to settle in one area and invest time in other things like rituals.

    Columbian Exchange

    Columbian Exchange
    The transfer of goods, crops, and diseases between New and Old World societies after 1492. The Native World had gold, silver, corn, potatoes, tobacco, pineapples, tomatoes, The Old World/Europeans had wheat, rice, sugar, coffee, horses, cows, pigs, smallpox,This whole exchange of things was initiated by Columbus. This whole exchange in goods was a culture shock and stimulated cultural expansion as natives were introduced to new goods.

    The Doctrine of Discovery

    Pope Alexander VI issued the Inter caetera,The Bull, known as “The Doctrine of Discovery,” stated that any land not inhabited by Christians was available to be “discovered,” claimed, and exploited by Christian rulers and declared that “the Catholic faith and the Christian religion be exalted and be everywhere increased and spread. This impacted the native culture and society tremoundeously because they then were being "forced" to practive European beliefs.

    Improvements in maritime technology

    Maritime Technology Resulted improvements in technology from the Renaissance; The Caravel, Compass, Astrolobe, Triangular Arab Sail, Improved maps etc. This allowed easier moving back and fourth between America and Europe as well as helped aid exploration which affected natives and the way they lived before the Europeans came and implemented their culture and views and forms of goverment on the natives. The natives were basically under control of Europeans.

    Encomienda system established

    This was claimed to be a way to protect natives nut was ultimitly and in reality a system set up that enslaved the natives. They were placed in a caste system based on ethnics and were used for slave labor. The natives didnt have a system of slave labor or anything similar put in place causing them to create conflict and strong dislike for Europeans
  • Africans in America

    Africans were being brought over from Africa to the Americas for the purpose of slave labor. The African people obviously being brought over against free will suffred a great deal during this time period and many to come due to the forced slave labor. This forever changed America however by creating the idea white supriorty within America, seeing as too the slave labor was for the wealthy white men that owned plantations. Culture was changed by the new minoirty race.
  • Founding of Jamestown Vrgina

    Jamestown, Virgina was the first colony established in America. While all the colonist were so motivated for new oppertunity and hopefully great success they were met with diease and death. huge portions of colonist populations died. This was a huge discouragement for the orignal colonist and it changed thier society. The colonist lived in fear of death yet continued to want that spereation from Europe and creating their own life style and culture.
  • Anne Hutchenson Banished

    Anne was a European born women who created meetings for herself and other women to come together to challange womens role and involvement in the church. It was decided that she was an unfit women for Massachusetts and was excommunicated and ended up dying in Long Island during an Indian raid.
  • King Phillips War

    Metacomet led a war against New England settlers who wanted to subject the native New England population to colonial control. Over half of the New English towns were burned down or dystroed. This changed society for the English because they felt completly vulnarble to the natives. They become offense.
  • The Pueblo Revolt

    This was an uprsing of the natives towards the Spainards. They killed hundreds, along with burning down houses and churches. The natives revolting and fighting back the natives created major conflict between socities of natives and the Europeans. Socities were seeing the natives as an evil danger and vice versa.
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and British conflict for American lands and goods blew up and they went to war. Conflict began to form with colonists who had diffrent meathods of making money in trades or goods. Culture and society changed after the French lost most battles and Britan was left with the upper hand to have more control and say in the Americas.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    King George III following Great Britain's acquisition of French territory in North America after the end of the Seven Years' War, which forbid all settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. This affected American society and how the people reacted because North America wanted liberty and wanted to expand but had the oppertunity for Great Britan to fight their battles.
  • The Sugar Act

    was a revenue-raising act passed by the Parliament of Great Britain on April 5, 1764. A law that imposed duties on foreign wines, coffee, textiles, and indigo imported into the colonies, and that also expanded the customs service. This enraged the people who believed it was unfair to have taxes implimented on them they saw it wrong and the society retaliated,
  • The Stamp Act

    Exacted revenue from the American colonies by imposing a stamp duty on newspapers and legal and commercial documents.Another tax imposing regulation that was too tight and only made matters worse as acussed of violating act were prosacuted making society feel like they had no control over anything.
