The Rebellion of 1837 was about many revolts against the rule of Great Britain. Peasants and Civilians were fighting for Independence. By the time the battle ended in 1838, hundreds had been killed, and the colonial way of life was rebuilt.

The Québec Conference was the second conference leading to creation of the Dominion of Canada in 1867. After the enthusiastic reception given to the delegates from the Province of Canada at the Charlottetown Conference in September 1864, John A. Macdonald wanted representatives from the three Maritime colonies and Newfoundland to meet with the United Canada delegates in Québec in October 1864.

By November 1866, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Canada had agreed to join Confederation. Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island declined.
All that was left was to get the British North America bill passed in the British Parliament. Sixteen delegates from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Canada, made the journey to London.
