Women in ancient Greece were not conspicuous, meaning they didn't have the right to talk in public, or make their own decisions, they also couldn't wear clothes that stood out.
At social gathering the men argued that themselves and women were complete different species, they thought this because men had more in common with the Gods, while the women had more things in common with the animal kingdom. -
Cleaning
Women were rarely outside. They mostly stayed indoors running their homes and keeping it clean for when their husbands came home. -

The only job that really mattered to women was being a Religious Priestess. In Sparta, men stayed in the barracks until they were thirty. Since Spartan didn't have the restriction against women' freedom, women could do a lot more, they had more social responsibility, meaning they could wear anything they want, they could walk around unescorted, participate in social events and buy land. -

Today
Today women can do almost anything they want. Women can work doing whatever they wanted to do, freely walk around unescorted, tend social events and have their own freedom, and it's all legal.
