  • The Creation of the Red River Settlement

    The Red River Settlement was very important because it created a new colony that eventually became a part of Manitoba. The Governor and Council were the ones that had approved the Red River Settlement by Lord Selkirk and his heirs.
  • The Merging of the HBC and the NWC

    When the HBC and the NWC merge together, they created one big company, they then became the owners of Rupert's Land. The HBC and NWC had position of 55 shares.
  • Slavery was made illegal in the British Empire

    This event is an extremely important one in history, not only did it stop slavery, but it let all of those innocent people go to live the rest of their lives. This law was passed in the House of Commons.
  • The Upper and Lower Canada Rebellion

    This rebellion had a huge impact on the Canada we live in today. This rebellion is what formed Canada. This all happened because the people wanted a responsible government. This was also the cause of the Durham Report.
  • The Durham Report was Issued

    The Durham Report was a report based on what had happened because of the two rebellions in both upper and lower Canada. This report caused upper and lower Canada to come together and unite as one Canada.
  • Canada Unites As One

    In 1940 the two Canada's decided to unite as one. this was caused by the Durham Report.
  • Montreal Riots

    The riot in Montreal was a huge moment in history. This is when the devastating burning of the parliament building occurred. This riot was a ripple affect almost of the huge economic and political crisis that was happening in Canada.
  • The Gradual Civilisation Act was Passed

    The Gradual Civilisation Act was all about the Indians. People wanted the Indians to be civil towards each other and they wanted to make minor changes to the laws that had to do with the Indian tribes.
  • The Conference between Quebec and Charlottetown

    This conference involved having a politician(s) from all five of the British North American. These colonies all came together in Quebec City to finish some discussions about creating a country that were started in Charlottetown.
  • British North American Act was passed

    The British North American Act or the BNA Act was the law that got passed by the British Parliament which caused the dominion of Canada at the confederation.
  • Canada Buys Ruperts Land

    In 1869 the Canadian Government decided to buy Rupert's Land for only 1.5 million dollars. Rupert's Land had a total of 7 million acres.
  • Métis List Of Rights

    The Métis List of Rights was a list of rights (demands) that the Métis had requested because they believed that they were not being treated fairly so they had to take matters into their own hands.
  • Indian Act Passed

    The Indian Act allowed the government to take control over the Aboriginal Peoples way of life. Such as their land, Indian status, wills, education, resources, wills and band administration (etc).
  • Canada's first woman doctor

    Canada's first ever female doctor was named Emily Stowe. She was an incredible woman, she started the "women's suffrage movement in Canada", she was an "activist for women's rights and suffrage" and she "campaigned for the country's first medical college for women."
  • Louis Riel returns to the Northwest

    The reason Louis Riel returned to the Northwest was to protect his people. The Metis would not have survived through the Canada's rebellion without a leader. Louis Riel decided to lead the Metis when no one else would because he knew that if he did not step in then the Metis would not survive.
  • The CPR was completed

    The Canadian Pacific Railway or the CPR for short, took a total of 10 years to complete. It took a very large group of Chinese men to complete this very grueling task. The CPR was and is a huge peice of Canadian history
  • The Manitoba schools question

    The Manitoba schools question was a huge political crisis in the 19th century. This was all started because of Roman, Catholics and Protestants schools that were publicly funded.
  • Yukon Gold Rush

    The Gold Rush was a major event in history where without it Canada would not be the success that it is today. The Gold Rush was a major event that first brought large groups of people to Canada. People that were searching for gold or even just exploring. Considering so many people came and ended up staying buildings had to be built for living, and business. From that moment in history, a community was built.
  • Alaska Boundary Dispute Settled

    The Alaska Boundary Dispute was a fight between the US and Russia because the US bought Alaska. It was a terrible time in history until this big fight was settled by an international tribunal.
  • The First World War begins

    The first world war started in 1914. It was a very gory and horrendous time in history that took many lives. The First World War was caused by the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. The war was then ended November 11, 1918 because and agreement was reached between the two sides.
