SMART Goal

  • Home

    Home
Call or hang out with high school friends once a week. Since moving away from home for college, I have not been as connected to my high school friends as I would like to be. By completing this goal each week, I can continue to grow these important relationships. This goal might decrease my financial standing if hanging out with them means spending money on certain events.
  • Community

    Community
Start volunteering at Miracle League in New Orleans once a month. I volunteered for Miracle League in high school, but stopped once I got to college. I can call the person I used to go to the events with and sign up to work for more days. This will not affect my financial picture because it is volunteering.
  • Creativity

    Creativity
I want to learn how to play the guitar within a year. Growing up, my uncle always told me he would teach me how to play the guitar, but I have never made time to actually plan a time when he could teach me. I can call him when I get back home from college and try to schedule a time to meet up a few times a month to practice. This will not affect my financial position.
  • Finances

    Finances
Within 1 year of starting my career, I want to open up an IRA account and put at least 15% of my income into it every year. This will help me save for retirement and ease any stress of not having enough money to retire in the future. This will help my financial position because I will be able to save for times when I will no longer have an income.
  • Work

    Work
Become a Certified Financial Planner within four years after graduating college. This CFP certification will open up an abundance of business opportunities within the field of financial planning. I will begin to search for the best CFP class to take in the spring. This will significantly increase my financial status as I will be paid more for having the designation.
