    Laws banning the African slave trade went into effect in British colonies and the United States. The British parliament voted to end the slave trade in 1807, and the U.S followed in 1808. However, illegal slave trading still continued for over 50 years.

    Nat Turner led a slave rebellion in South Hampton County, Virginia, They killed at least 55 people

    A slave revolt on the Amistad resulted in the 1841 US supreme court decision that the Africans involved were illegally enslaved and were free individuals.
